It's All About Caring

Pride Month

At Kavi, we believe it is important for all people to show up as they are and be wholeheartedly accepted.

We are queer, bisexual, straight, and allies. We know that our power to create the change we desire in this world comes from practicing that same acceptance and care with each other.

As part of Pride month, a Kavi staff member wanted to share this story about the power of caring for each other:

“I had a feeling that Kavi was the kind of workplace that would welcome my whole self, but I’ve been burnt before in my attempts to come out at the workplace, so I was tentative. A few months ago during a check-in when we were quickly catching up about our weekends, a colleague casually mentioned that she is bisexual, and I filed away in my brain: this is a safe space. Several weeks later, I came out to my supervisor as part of my answer to, “how are you?”, and I have never felt so seen in any workplace. I didn’t have to worry about accidentally coming out and what repercussions might follow. I got to answer the ‘how are you?’ question honestly. I no longer have to be part of the 43% of Americans who are closeted at work.” And hopefully you and/or your colleagues don’t either.

It doesn’t have to be leadership that makes moves to create a more inclusive workspace. Anyone can choose to not assume pronouns, gender identification, sexual orientation, and the stereotypes that come along with otherwise trying to squeeze people into boxes. We can learn ways to foster a truly inclusive workplace for all regardless of position.
